MyBookaro doesn’t add custom WP roles in Lite. It relies on standard WP capabilities plus a few bookaro_* capabilities mapped to manage_options by default.
Default capability mapping #
| Capability | Mapped to (default) | Used for |
|---|---|---|
bookaro_manage | manage_options | Site-wide admin operations |
bookaro_manage_bookings | manage_options | Owner booking management |
bookaro_view_reports | manage_options | Reports access |
bookaro_export_data | manage_options | CSV exports (Pro) |
bookaro_manage_license | manage_options | License administration (Pro) |
Provider capabilities #
Any logged-in user can be a “provider” by being assigned bookings (Single Business: Default Provider; Generic: listing author / meta key target). Provider Dashboard checks read + ownership of the data being requested.
Customer capabilities #
Customers don’t need a WP account to book — anonymous booking with a magic-link token works. Customer Dashboard requires a logged-in WP account.
Adding capabilities to roles #
Use a role-management plugin (User Role Editor, Members) or programmatic add_cap() in your theme/site mu-plugin:
add_action('init', function() {
$role = get_role('shop_manager');
if ($role) {
$role->add_cap('bookaro_manage_bookings');
$role->add_cap('bookaro_view_reports');
}
});
Filtering capability checks #
Use the standard WP map_meta_cap or user_has_cap filters to remap MyBookaro caps to your own roles.
