The Setup Wizard offers three presets for the Generic Directory lane. Each one bundles common provider-mapping + services-model choices into a single click.
Provider-Owned Directory #
- Provider mapping: Listing Author
- Services model: Provider Only
- Best for: sites where the listing’s WP author is the actual person who fulfills bookings (freelancer directories, indie marketplaces).
Editorial + Meta Key Directory #
- Provider mapping: Listing Meta Key
- Services model: Provider Only
- Best for: sites where editors/admins write listings on behalf of providers — the listing’s Author is staff, but a meta field stores the actual provider’s user ID. Set the meta key during the wizard.
Shared Catalog Directory #
- Provider mapping: Listing Author
- Services model: Admin Catalog Only
- Best for: directories where every listing offers the same admin-curated service catalog (consultations, intro calls, single-tier services).
Mix and match #
You don’t have to use a preset. Pick “Custom” in the wizard and configure provider mapping + services model independently. Hybrid services model is also available — it merges Provider Only and Admin Catalog Only behaviors.
Switching presets #
You can re-run the Setup Wizard and switch presets without losing existing booking data. The change affects how new bookings are created and how the booking UI resolves services.
