iCal feed gives providers a personal subscription URL they can plug into any calendar app (Apple Calendar, Outlook, Google Calendar, Fantastical, etc.) for read-only sync.
How it works #
- Each provider gets a unique URL signed with a private key.
- The URL serves VCALENDAR (RFC 5545) when fetched.
- Read-only — calendar apps only see bookings, they can’t create them through this feed.
Get your feed URL #
Provider Dashboard → Calendar Sync → iCal Feed → Copy URL. Refresh button regenerates the key (invalidates the old URL).
Subscribe in Apple Calendar #
File → New Calendar Subscription → paste URL. Set refresh frequency.
Subscribe in Google Calendar #
Other calendars → + → “From URL” → paste.
Subscribe in Outlook #
Add calendar → Subscribe from web → paste.
Endpoint #
The feed is served by an AJAX action: wp_ajax_bookaro_ical + wp_ajax_nopriv_bookaro_ical. URL params: user_id + key. Rate-limited; returns 429 if abused.
Security #
- The key is per-provider and required.
- Anyone with the URL can read that provider’s bookings — treat it as a secret.
- Refresh the key (provider dashboard) to invalidate accidentally-shared URLs.
Diagnostics #
Last access timestamp + last event count are stored per user. Settings → Calendar surfaces these.
