The services model controls where service definitions come from. Three options.
Provider Only #
Each provider owns their own service list. They add/edit/remove services from their Provider Dashboard. The customer sees only that provider’s services.
- Best for: independent practitioners, freelancers, where every provider is unique.
- Default for: Single Business and most Generic Directory presets.
Admin Catalog Only #
Admins curate one master catalog of services in the WP admin. Every provider offers the same services from the catalog — they don’t define their own.
- Best for: chains, franchises, sites with strict price/service consistency.
- Default for: Shared Catalog Directory preset.
Hybrid #
Combines both: an admin-curated catalog is available to every provider, AND providers can add their own custom services on top.
- Best for: directories with a mix of standardized and custom offerings.
How services are stored #
- MyListing Directory: services live in the MyListing repeater — no separate model. Services model setting is effectively informational here; the repeater is the source of truth.
- Generic Directory + Single Business: services are stored in the
bookaro_serviceCPT. Provider-owned services have anauthor= the provider; admin catalog services have anauthor= a designated admin.
Switching models #
You can change the services model in Settings → General. Existing services stay; the rules for what’s visible to customers change. Test by visiting a booking page in an incognito window after switching.
