WordPress booking plugin for photographers
Most booking plugins assume one calendar, one location. Photographers don’t work that way — travel days, multiple shooters, and 4-hour wedding consults need a different shape.
Travel + wedding blackouts
Multiple session types
Per-photographer schedules
WordPress booking for photographers needs three things to work in real life: flexible session types, strict blackout management for travel and weddings, and a provider dashboard the photographer can actually use without the studio admin in the loop. MyBookaro covers all three out of the box.
Why provider-based booking fits a photography business
Most appointment plugins assume one location and a queue of identical 30-minute slots. Photographers do not work that way. Sessions vary in length (15-minute headshots vs 4-hour wedding consults), travel days collapse availability, and most studios have multiple photographers each managing their own schedule.
MyBookaro is built around providers, not products. Each photographer has their own weekly schedule, their own services, and their own dashboard. The studio owner sees everything; each photographer only sees what is theirs.
How MyBookaro fits a typical photography site
Three official site shapes are supported:
- Single Business - one studio, several photographers. No listings, no directory. Default Provider plus normal pages.
- MyListing Directory - a directory of photographers (city-wide or vertical-specific) with each photographer running their own listing.
- Generic Directory - if you run a custom directory CPT, this guided lane lets you pick the mapping and services model.
Features photographers actually use
- Per-provider weekly schedule with travel-day blackouts
- Date exceptions for weddings, fairs, and travel
- Multiple session types per photographer (engagement, family, headshots, events)
- Customer dashboard so clients can reschedule themselves
- Email reminders 24h and 1h before the session
- Review invite emails after the shoot is completed
- Provider dashboard for the photographer's own day-of view
- WooCommerce checkout for full-session payment (Pro)
- Google Calendar push (Pro) — confirmed shoots appear on the photographer's personal calendar within seconds
- iCal feed for read-only access from any other calendar app (Pro)
- SMS reminders via Twilio (Pro) - critical for client no-shows
Setup walkthrough for a photography studio
- Install MyBookaro Lite from WordPress.org
- Run Setup Wizard and pick the lane: Single Business if you are one studio, MyListing if you run a directory of photographers
- Add each photographer as a provider with a weekly schedule and blackout dates
- Define services (engagement session, family portraits, wedding consult, headshots)
- Place the booking form on relevant pages or per-photographer profile pages
- Run one end-to-end test booking and confirm the email goes out
- Optionally upgrade to Pro for payments at checkout, Google Calendar sync, and SMS
Pricing for photography businesses
Lite is free and covers everything above except payments, calendar sync, and SMS. Pro starts at $89/yr Single Site, $179/yr Plus (5 sites), or $279/yr Agency (unlimited).
Bottom line for a photography studio
Use Single Business with multiple providers if you have a studio. Use MyListing if you run a directory site. Both work in Lite for free; upgrade to Pro when you need session payments at checkout.
Frequently asked questions
Can clients pay a deposit when booking a session?
In Lite, MyBookaro uses a request-to-book workflow without checkout. With Pro and WooCommerce, the booking takes the full session amount at checkout. Pro’s deposit settings split that full payment between the website and the photographer for revenue-share reporting — they aren’t a partial customer charge.
Can I block out specific dates for travel or weddings?
Yes. Lite includes date exceptions and blackout dates as part of provider availability rules. Set them once for a single date or a recurring pattern.
Does it work with MyListing if I run a photographer directory?
Yes – MyListing is the primary supported lane. Each photographer in your directory can manage their own bookings from the provider dashboard.
Can clients reschedule their own sessions?
Yes – the customer dashboard lets clients view, reschedule, and cancel their bookings within the windows you configure.
Do I need WooCommerce to take photo session bookings?
No. Lite handles session requests without any checkout. You only need WooCommerce when you decide to add Pro payment flows.
